Scott Shpak is closer to being a 40-year veteran of the Canadian music industry than he’d really like to admit.
Starting off on the typical quest for feminine attention and free beer, Shpak trekked the country playing the B-circuit of bars, restaurants and clubs, before deciding that regular paycheques were a unique and exciting growth opportunity. Though his time in the Real World did prove profitable, he never gave up on the dream of being a complete failure in the music industry.
Along with school buddy Ken Faragalli, Shpak found a way to blend his musically illiterate songwriting ideas with Ken’s extreme talents as a musician. Oddly, it worked, until Ken’s untimely passing at a young age.
Pressing on alone, successes continued, with more and more audio-visual song placements in television, original music written for stage productions, and music for one of the longest lists of unreleased independent movies you’re likely to find.
His lack of ability notwithstanding, the songs continue, specializing in replicating the sounds and spirit of the 1960s, 70s, and 80s, as well as contemporary soundtrack work that’s evocative and innovative.
Having left the Real World, Shpak has time on his hands and too many guitars within easy reach. Need music? Contact Shadow Factory. We’re much cheaper to license than The Beatles.
